Scholastic Books and Activities

The Tennessee Department of Human Services and the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation have partnered with Scholastic to provide all TDHS licensed child care providers with children’s books to support the development of Tennessee’s youngest learners. The TN CCR&R Early Literacy Team has developed free, downloadable activity sheets to accompany these books, to provide educators and families fun and easy ways to engage young minds.

The age-appropriate activity sheets below have been designed for early childhood educators to use with the children in their classroom. This includes fun methods to connect with the story, as well as guidance for educators to help children learn about other topics such as science, math, social/emotional development, and more!

Family Activity Sheets

Early literacy is crucial in children’s development. As such, these age-appropriate activity sheets are packed with fun ways for families to begin fostering a love of reading together. They also include other book recommendations, reading tips, and links to video read-alongs. It’s never too early to start reading to your children!
